Yurie Maki <\/strong>is a young singer working to take a new original form of music to the masses in Japan and Abroad. The style, called R&E, fuses the music genres of R&B and Enka (a traditional form of folk songs in Japan). <\/a><\/p>\n

Yurie officially entered the singing world in 2010 after working on the OnMitsuDan project which is designed to discover and help develop new music artists. Before that she worked mostly as a dancer appearing on various popular TV shows in Japan. She also was a back dancer for major Japanese artists and worked the stage at established venues, including Shibuya AXE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Through the influence of her Grandmother, Yurie began to incorporate the vocal style of Enka with her dance moves, labeling this mix of East and West- “R&E” (Rhythm and Enka)<\/p>\n

She can be seen performing in Kimono around Tokyo and other areas of Japan. Her first mini CD “R&E<\/a>” was released nationwide in June 2011 and will be released worldwide from Dec. 14th! Check out her soulful fusion sound soon!<\/p>\n
